The French Open, often referred to as Roland Garros or Les internationaux de France de Tennis is the 2nd of only 4 annual grand slam tennis tournaments. It is the premier clay court tennis tournament in the world and attracts all of the big names.
Held over two weeks between late May and early June at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris, France, it is widely regarded as the most physically demanding tennis tournament in the world due to the slow playing surface, the climate and the 5 set men’s singles matches.
The French Open Location
Roland Garros Stadium is based on the west side of Paris not far from St Cloud on the bank of the River Seine and practically next door to Longchamp Raceourse which hosts the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
If you are planning a trip to Roland Garros for The French Open then you may need the below travel tips.
Using The Metro
Line 9: Mairie de Montreuil – Pont de Sèvres (nearest stop: Michel-Ange Auteuil or Michel-Ange Molitor)
Line 10: Gare d’Austerlitz – Boulogne (nearest stop: Porte d’Auteuil or Boulogne Jean-Jaurès)
We recommend the access through Gate I – Suzanne-Lenglen which has been renovated in 2011 for better access. This is in fact the second biggest gate into the Grounds.
As you make your way back into Paris, we recommend that you take the metro at Michel-Ange Molitor (on the lines 9 and 10) in order to avoid hold-ups at the other stations.
