For example, with Alamo United States, the minimum age for driving a car is 18 years old. However, drivers aged 18 to 20 years must pay a surcharge of $49.37 per day. This supplement cannot be settled in advance and must be paid at time of pickup. Of course, if you’re hiring the vehicle for a lengthy period of time, this can make the cost of hire much more expensive than you initially thought. 

Sadly, young driver car hire always includes a daily surcharge. However, the amount you’ll need to pay will usually decrease as you get older. For example, someone aged 18 will pay more for the same hire than a 24-year-old would.
