Compacts are a much desired group of vehicle due to some of the great vehicles we have on fleet in this group. They are in high demand so they often get booked pretty quickly but if you book in advance you can get your hands on one.

I would describe a compact as the largest of the smaller vehicle type, the specifications of compacts are as follows…

Citroen C4

European Car of the Year in 2005 the Citroen C4 can best be described as a small family car and has been produced since 2004. The C4 is the successor of Xsara, people enjoy the C4 due to its extensive use of technology and top of the range features you can enjoy in the standard model.

Peugeot 308

Available in both petrol and diesel (Hdi) the 308 has been in production since September 2007 and is still going strong today with a recent facelift. The agile, small yet suitable for a family car is the perfect option for your average day to day family with a few suitcases. It’s a cost effective option for our customers.

Volkswagen Golf

The golf is fantastic, its won an endless list of awards year on year since its start of production in 1974. Recently as of 2013 the MK7 won the world car of the year, and this great car is available in both petrol and diesel as well as manual and automatic. It typically comes with 5 seats, 3 doors and room for 4 large suitcases.

Vauxhall Astra

Since 1979 Vauxhall have been producing the fantastic Astra as part of their small family car range, for generations the Astra has been one of the most popular cars on the road without a doubt worldwide. It’s been in constant competition with the Golf for the best compact car and is reliable enough to be used by the British police force as one of their main cars.

Do I need to pass a credit check if using my debit card to hire?

If renting a car in the UK and you are a UK resident most of the large multinational suppliers will carry out an electronic address check to ensure you have strong enough links to the address provided. However most of the suppliers with the exception of 1 or 2, still carry out the same checks so not unique to when you need to hire via a debit card. Key indicator are if you are named on the Electoral Register and named on the council tax bill.

When renting a car overseas as an inbound client our suppliers do not carry out any checks.

Do I need to leave a deposit if hiring with a debit card?

Most suppliers do require a security deposit when renting a car, in the UK we have a range of options. The best value suppliers would request a £200.00 – £300.00 deposit. However we do have selected locations where our supplier does not require any deposit, so a full zero deposit.

In Europe we have options where you can just leave a fuel deposit of 110 EUR, and there is no mandatory requirement to take the Super Cover as this can be the case with some of the smaller budget suppliers.
