Hiring a car under the age of 25 can be a tricky task as majority of rental companies won’t even consider hiring to you as their insurance companies don’t allow anyone under the age of 25. This was unfair as many people were being let down due to not being able to get a car, just because your under 25 doesn’t mean you need a car less than those who are over 25, therefore on this basis we decided that we had to do something about this and make sure our younger driver can get behind the wheel.

We got on the phone to all the suppliers within the airport and tried to arrange this deal so that we could hire to people who are under 25. We were looking originally to lower the age which was our intention but eventually we came up one better and managed to arrange two deals for different age ranges, these are…

Under 23?

Are you under the age of 23? Usually you wouldn’t be able to hire but our deal means that we can now hire to those who are 21 given that you have held your licence for a year prior to hiring with us. You will be subject to a young driver additional daily fee however we will keep the price to an absolute minimum and find you the lowest cost with the extra fees included.

23 Or Over?

If you are 23 or 24 we also have a fantastic deal for you, just like younger drivers you need to have 1 year driving experience. The deal we have arranged means that you will have to pay just a small young driver fee. That’s right Just A Small Young Driver Additional Fee! This will save you an absolute ton of money.

Finally!! great for young drivers

Indigo car hire found me an amazing deal and pretty much made my whole birthday! I couldn't of travelled without a car as i was going from Glasgow to skye with friends and I couldn't afford the young drivers fee I was being quoted from other companies.

I strongly recommend Indigo for young drivers!

Do I need to pass a credit check if using my debit card to hire?

If renting a car in the UK and you are a UK resident most of the large multinational suppliers will carry out an electronic address check to ensure you have strong enough links to the address provided. However most of the suppliers with the exception of 1 or 2, still carry out the same checks so not unique to when you need to hire via a debit card. Key indicator are if you are named on the Electoral Register and named on the council tax bill.

When renting a car overseas as an inbound client our suppliers do not carry out any checks.

Do I need to leave a deposit if hiring with a debit card?

Most suppliers do require a security deposit when renting a car, in the UK we have a range of options. The best value suppliers would request a £200.00 – £300.00 deposit. However we do have selected locations where our supplier does not require any deposit, so a full zero deposit.

In Europe we have options where you can just leave a fuel deposit of 110 EUR, and there is no mandatory requirement to take the Super Cover as this can be the case with some of the smaller budget suppliers.
