Under the age of 25? Then hiring a car can be a struggle as majority of rental companies don’t allow you to hire because of insurance reasons, this can be of course majorly inconvenient as just because you are under 25 it doesn’t mean that you need a car any less than someone who is over 25. Therefor we decided that something needed to be done about it, a large amount of our customers are young drivers and with Shiremoor being so close to the main city of Newcastle we felt it imperative to try and get something organised.

We got on the phone to all the suppliers in the area and quickly managed to arrange a deal, it didn’t take long and we got two deals out of them which we will explain by splitting them into different age ranges which you can see below…

Under 23?

Usually if you are under 23 you won’t stand a chance of getting a hired vehicle, well not until now anyway because we have managed to arrange a deal that means you can hire a car given that you are 21 and have held your licence for a year prior to picking up the vehicle. You will however be subject to a young driver additional fee but we will try and keep this to an absolute minimum, and not just that we will try and keep the full cost of the rental to a minimum as sometimes the car can cost more on first sight but the supplier offers a lower surcharge and we will work out all the total prices.

23 Or Over?

Are you 23 or 24? We have an absolutely fantastic deal for you, given that you have held your licence for a year prior to picking up the vehicle then we can hire a car to you with low young driver additional surcharge. That’s right Just A Small Young Driver Additional Fee! This will save you a large sum of money as young driver fees can often exceed the cost of the rental itself.

Do I need to pass a credit check if using my debit card to hire?

If renting a car in the UK and you are a UK resident most of the large multinational suppliers will carry out an electronic address check to ensure you have strong enough links to the address provided. However most of the suppliers with the exception of 1 or 2, still carry out the same checks so not unique to when you need to hire via a debit card. Key indicator are if you are named on the Electoral Register and named on the council tax bill.

When renting a car overseas as an inbound client our suppliers do not carry out any checks.

Do I need to leave a deposit if hiring with a debit card?

Most suppliers do require a security deposit when renting a car, in the UK we have a range of options. The best value suppliers would request a £200.00 – £300.00 deposit. However we do have selected locations where our supplier does not require any deposit, so a full zero deposit.

In Europe we have options where you can just leave a fuel deposit of 110 EUR, and there is no mandatory requirement to take the Super Cover as this can be the case with some of the smaller budget suppliers.
