Young driver car hire is a confusing venture for anyone. There are so many different restrictions, offers, deals, additional costs, hidden fees everything! At Indigo we are here to make everything clear to you no matter what. We wont hide any prices from you and make everything clear, one of our main aims is to improve our young driver offers and deals as we have been doing over the past few years.

Due to the way young drivers work and the various deals we have worked out it can be a bit confusing because we have tried to find the best deals and each different age is with a different supplier so the requirements are all different. So with that here is the breakdown of each individual young driver age.

What about if I am 21 or 22?

If you are between 21 or 22 then all you need is one years driving experience you also will unfortunately be subject still to an additional daily fee which again we will try to keep at the lowest possible to make your car hire affordable.

And if I am between the ages of 23 to 24 what about me?

This is one of our best deals now available, we can offer, given that if you are between these ages you must have had your licence for one year, car hire with a small additional fee, making it much more affordable for young drivers to hire a car with Indigo.

If you are a young driver and want to hire a car then you Must Call our reservation agents as if you book online we can’t insure that you will get the supplier that will hire to your age, we need to make sure everything is tailored to you.

The best car hire experience

I was struggling to hire a car for my holiday in Northern Ireland with just a debit card. I tried Indigo car hire. They were very prompt in responding to my email. After a few emails & sorting out what I required, a booking was made. I got back from my week holiday last night & everything was better than I could have expected. Do I need to pass a credit check if using my debit card to hire?

If renting a car in the UK and you are a UK resident most of the large multinational suppliers will carry out an electronic address check to ensure you have strong enough links to the address provided. However most of the suppliers with the exception of 1 or 2, still carry out the same checks so not unique to when you need to hire via a debit card. Key indicator are if you are named on the Electoral Register and named on the council tax bill.

When renting a car overseas as an inbound client our suppliers do not carry out any checks.

Do I need to leave a deposit if hiring with a debit card?

Most suppliers do require a security deposit when renting a car, in the UK we have a range of options. The best value suppliers would request a £200.00 – £300.00 deposit. However we do have selected locations where our supplier does not require any deposit, so a full zero deposit.

In Europe we have options where you can just leave a fuel deposit of 110 EUR, and there is no mandatory requirement to take the Super Cover as this can be the case with some of the smaller budget suppliers.
