A little about Inverness Train Station
The train station in Inverness has been in existence for over 160 years now and is run by First ScotRail although it is actually owned by Network Rail. Inverness station acts as the final destination along the Highland Main line which is over 115 miles long as serves as the link between Perth in the South of Scotland and Inverness in the North.

As a popular gateway to the Highlands and starting point for journeys up to the Outer Hebrides, Inverness is a popular station and, with 7 platforms in total is quite considerable in size. It takes roughly 3 hours to reach from either Glasgow or Edinburgh stations which also adds to it’s appeal as these are some of the most popular tourist destinations in Scotland.

Travel to the Highlands from Inverness Train Station
Having made the first part of the journey by rail, hiring a car at Inverness train station tends to be a popular means of making an onward journey, particularly for those travelling to the beautiful Isle of Lewis as the drive from Inverness to Ullapool Ferry port is less than 60 miles and, whilst it is possible to travel there by Coach, a hire car gives you the flexibility to fully enjoy the beauty of the Journey from Inverness into the Highlands.

Because we work with a number of different car hire companies in Inverness, we are confident we will be able to find the right vehicle for you, whether you are only making a short journey and need a small economy car or planning on going on a driving holiday and tour of the stunning North of Scotland and need something more substantial like a large saloon car or even people carrier.
