Heathrow Airport Free Additional Driver

Planning to hire a car at Heathrow airport and travel a long distance over you’re rental period? Driving can get tedious and tiring especially when you’re the only one behind the wheel for the whole holiday, the designated driver. Now with our new offer you don’t have to be, you can add someone who is on holiday with you to the rental completely free of charge, they do however have to be eligible to hire the car themselves and meet all the restrictions that the standard driver does in order to hire but if they do, it’s free so why not!

The Restrictions
Much like a standard driver to be an additional you need to meet all the restrictions that are in place. These restrictions are that you must be 21 or over and have held your licence for a year prior to hiring with us, you must also abide by the driving points rule which means that you must have 6 points or under for minor offences, major convictions you will have to call us for the full details.

As a young driver at Heathrow majority of the time you will have to pay an additional driver daily fee, this is the same if you are added as a second driver. Second drivers still get the exact same restrictions and rules as the standard driver apart from the rules regarding the payment.

The terms surrounding additional drivers at Heathrow can be confusing and long with various different options, extras and costs that may be involved even if it says Free. However we pride ourselves on getting the best deal and we will be completely transparent and let you know of the full cost of everything and whether certain aspects including additional drivers is a worthwhile option and if there are alternatives.

Do I need to pass a credit check if using my debit card to hire?

If renting a car in the UK and you are a UK resident most of the large multinational suppliers will carry out an electronic address check to ensure you have strong enough links to the address provided. However most of the suppliers with the exception of 1 or 2, still carry out the same checks so not unique to when you need to hire via a debit card. Key indicator are if you are named on the Electoral Register and named on the council tax bill.

When renting a car overseas as an inbound client our suppliers do not carry out any checks.

Do I need to leave a deposit if hiring with a debit card?

Most suppliers do require a security deposit when renting a car, in the UK we have a range of options. The best value suppliers would request a £200.00 – £300.00 deposit. However we do have selected locations where our supplier does not require any deposit, so a full zero deposit.

In Europe we have options where you can just leave a fuel deposit of 110 EUR, and there is no mandatory requirement to take the Super Cover as this can be the case with some of the smaller budget suppliers.
