Car Rental For Young Drivers In Germany

Hiring a car if you are under 25 can be a complete and utter nightmare. It is possible usually from the age of 21 however the fees that come with this, if you do manage to find a company that will hire to you of course are extremely high. You may or may not know that Indigo Car Hire usually arrange deals with suppliers to try get the absolute minimum age possible to hire making renting more available to a wider audience of people. The deal we have managed to arrange in our German locations are no exception.

We have had several customers unable to hire a car in Germany previously due to their age so we decided something needed to be done about it. After several meetings and phone calls we finally managed to come up with an amazing deal for our customers that we were very happy with, in fact, there were two deals.

Our Offers

The two offers that we have managed to arrange include…

1- Our young driver car hire age we have managed to do the impossible and have managed to get lower than the under 21 threshold. We can now arrange car hire for people who are 18 years of age and have held their licence for a year prior to hiring with us.

2- For 23 and 24 year olds we have managed to arrange a deal which means you no longer have any young driver surcharge at all! This is also available if you have held your licence for a year prior to hiring.

These two deals are massive breakthroughs for us as it means that several more young drivers will be able to hire a car in several locations across Germany, one of our most popular rental locations. The offer is good because it means that if you have had your licence over a year and are over 18 then you can hire, it also saves our 23 and 24 year olds a large sum of money when they book through our services.

Excellent service, all advisors were really helpful and managed to find me a good quote when many other rental companies wouldn't offer me a car. I ended up with a brand toyota yaris for a cheap price and would thoroughly recommend booking with Indigo.

Do I need to pass a credit check if using my debit card to hire?

If renting a car in the UK and you are a UK resident most of the large multinational suppliers will carry out an electronic address check to ensure you have strong enough links to the address provided. However most of the suppliers with the exception of 1 or 2, still carry out the same checks so not unique to when you need to hire via a debit card. Key indicator are if you are named on the Electoral Register and named on the council tax bill.

When renting a car overseas as an inbound client our suppliers do not carry out any checks.

Do I need to leave a deposit if hiring with a debit card?

Most suppliers do require a security deposit when renting a car, in the UK we have a range of options. The best value suppliers would request a £200.00 – £300.00 deposit. However we do have selected locations where our supplier does not require any deposit, so a full zero deposit.

In Europe we have options where you can just leave a fuel deposit of 110 EUR, and there is no mandatory requirement to take the Super Cover as this can be the case with some of the smaller budget suppliers.
