Often when hiring a car you can never be sure what kind of fuel type vehicle you may receive. You could receive a petrol, diesel, hybrid or even electric cars depending on your car hire requirements. We here at Indigo Car Hire are here to help and make sure you are aware of everything you need to know about fuel policies and fuel types that are available when it comes to hiring a car. Please find all the details you would need below:

What does full to full mean?

Full to full means that on arrival, your vehicle will be provided with a full tank of fuel, and you will have to return the vehicle with a full tank of fuel, otherwise you may be charged extra.

What does full to empty mean?

Full to empty means that on arrival you will pay for a full tank of fuel on top of the rental cost, and will have to return the vehicle as empty as possible.

Will I be charged for fuel?

This depends on the fuel policy, so check the terms or with one of our agents before booking. Some suppliers charge for a tank of fuel on arrival and then return it at the end.

Can I choose which fuel type I want

This cannot be guaranteed, however we can put a request in with the supplier for a certain fuel type. So if you prefer a diesel, petrol or any other fuel types then please speak with our team and we and put the request in for you however this is not guaranteed!

Do I need to pass a credit check if using my debit card to hire?

If renting a car in the UK and you are a UK resident most of the large multinational suppliers will carry out an electronic address check to ensure you have strong enough links to the address provided. However most of the suppliers with the exception of 1 or 2, still carry out the same checks so not unique to when you need to hire via a debit card. Key indicator are if you are named on the Electoral Register and named on the council tax bill.

When renting a car overseas as an inbound client our suppliers do not carry out any checks.

Do I need to leave a deposit if hiring with a debit card?

Most suppliers do require a security deposit when renting a car, in the UK we have a range of options. The best value suppliers would request a £200.00 – £300.00 deposit. However we do have selected locations where our supplier does not require any deposit, so a full zero deposit.

In Europe we have options where you can just leave a fuel deposit of 110 EUR, and there is no mandatory requirement to take the Super Cover as this can be the case with some of the smaller budget suppliers.
