Around the world car hire companies typically only accept the use of a credit card as its seen as a more secure payment option for many companies as they are renting out their vehicle, this is fine as its right it is a more secure payment but it also scared customers because there are no restrictions as to what can be taken off a credit card so not many people trust them. This in mind we didn’t want our customers scared of hiring a car, the thought of that sounded ridiculous to us so we decided something needed to be done about it. We held several meetings with different suppliers worldwide and managed to bring you car hire Tenerife North airport with a debit card.

However with hiring with a debit card you may be required to take additional insurance/excess relax cover. This depends completely on your supplier chosen and whether you want these or not but what they basically mean is if you where to get into an accident in the hired car then you would be completely covered and no money would leave your wallet in the unlikely event.

The best car hire experience

I was struggling to hire a car for my holiday in Northern Ireland with just a debit card. I tried Indigo car hire. They were very prompt in responding to my email. After a few emails & sorting out what I required, a booking was made. I got back from my week holiday last night & everything was better than I could have expected. Do I need to pass a credit check if using my debit card to hire?

If renting a car in the UK and you are a UK resident most of the large multinational suppliers will carry out an electronic address check to ensure you have strong enough links to the address provided. However most of the suppliers with the exception of 1 or 2, still carry out the same checks so not unique to when you need to hire via a debit card. Key indicator are if you are named on the Electoral Register and named on the council tax bill.

When renting a car overseas as an inbound client our suppliers do not carry out any checks.

Do I need to leave a deposit if hiring with a debit card?

Most suppliers do require a security deposit when renting a car, in the UK we have a range of options. The best value suppliers would request a £200.00 – £300.00 deposit. However we do have selected locations where our supplier does not require any deposit, so a full zero deposit.

In Europe we have options where you can just leave a fuel deposit of 110 EUR, and there is no mandatory requirement to take the Super Cover as this can be the case with some of the smaller budget suppliers.
