Car Rental For Young Drivers In Motherwell

If you are under the age of 25 it can be very hard to hire a car due to restrictions of the insurance companies that the rental suppliers use, this can be majorly inconvenient as young drivers also need cars just as much as those who are over the age of 25. Due to this and a lot of our customer database being under 25 we decided that it was important to do something about it and try tackle this issue in Motherwell.

We got on the phone to all the suppliers local to the Motherwell area in order to try and organise some form of deal for our customers. Eventually we found two suppliers happy to negotiate and managed to get two great offers from them for different age groups, I have broken it down into two age groups to try help explain the offers which you can find below…

Under 23?

Are you under the age of 23? Usually you wouldn’t stand a chance of hiring a car however thanks to our great offer we have arrange now 21 year olds can hire given that they have held their licence for a year prior to doing so. There will however be a young driver fee with this but we will try and keep not only that to a minimum but the total price rental with all the extra costs included to an absolute minimum.

23 Or Over?

If you are 23 or 24 we have a fantastic deal arranged for you. The deal is available to those who held your licence for a year prior to hiring and also pay a small “young driver” surcharge. This will save our customers a ton of money as young driver fees often exceed the cost of the rental.

Do I need to pass a credit check if using my debit card to hire?

If renting a car in the UK and you are a UK resident most of the large multinational suppliers will carry out an electronic address check to ensure you have strong enough links to the address provided. However most of the suppliers with the exception of 1 or 2, still carry out the same checks so not unique to when you need to hire via a debit card. Key indicator are if you are named on the Electoral Register and named on the council tax bill.

When renting a car overseas as an inbound client our suppliers do not carry out any checks.

Do I need to leave a deposit if hiring with a debit card?

Most suppliers do require a security deposit when renting a car, in the UK we have a range of options. The best value suppliers would request a £200.00 – £300.00 deposit. However we do have selected locations where our supplier does not require any deposit, so a full zero deposit.

In Europe we have options where you can just leave a fuel deposit of 110 EUR, and there is no mandatory requirement to take the Super Cover as this can be the case with some of the smaller budget suppliers.
