Car Hire Livingston With A Debit Card

Hiring a car without a credit card isn’t as easy as you may think, most suppliers don’t allow you to do so as the only form of payment they accept is that of credit cards. This can be extremely difficult to many as there are a lot of people that either don’t have credit cards or just don’t like using them due to how easy it can be to get into debt. We completely agree with this and want to do something about it in order to try and get another payment method to be accepted in order to make it more convenient for our customers.

We got on the phone to all the suppliers in and around Livingston in order to try and arrange an offer so that our customers had more options when coming to hire. The deal we managed to arrange means that our customers can hire cars using debit cards given that they meet the restrictions that were put in place for us. However, sometimes these restrictions may change due to location and the supplier. This is the 4th. time I have hired a car via Indigo and as always the staff were friendly and helpful. the car was clean and well prepared. I will be using Indigo for my next visit to the UK. I have no hesitation in recommending Indigo to all my friends.

Do I need to pass a credit check if using my debit card to hire?

If renting a car in the UK and you are a UK resident most of the large multinational suppliers will carry out an electronic address check to ensure you have strong enough links to the address provided. However most of the suppliers with the exception of 1 or 2, still carry out the same checks so not unique to when you need to hire via a debit card. Key indicator are if you are named on the Electoral Register and named on the council tax bill.

When renting a car overseas as an inbound client our suppliers do not carry out any checks.

Do I need to leave a deposit if hiring with a debit card?

Most suppliers do require a security deposit when renting a car, in the UK we have a range of options. The best value suppliers would request a £200.00 – £300.00 deposit. However we do have selected locations where our supplier does not require any deposit, so a full zero deposit.

In Europe we have options where you can just leave a fuel deposit of 110 EUR, and there is no mandatory requirement to take the Super Cover as this can be the case with some of the smaller budget suppliers.
