The biggest struggle in driving snowy conditions usually comes from not having the right tyres for winter conditions. Winter tyres therefore are hugely beneficial for driving trips in the winter. So beneficial in fact that the Andorran government requires that cars have winter tyres from November 1^st to May 15^th.

Alternatively, Snow chains must be carried as a substitute – with a fine of €180 if not. This however is not something you would need to be concerned with when hiring with Indigo Car Hire. The legal nature of winter tyres ensures that all our vehicles are fitted appropriately.

Utilise lower gears – Andorra has its fair share of rough mountainous terrain, make sure to use lower gears when descending to control your speed and avoid overheating your brakes.

Watch out for fog – The reduced visibility from fog can be a much bigger danger than snow/ice, and it’s a lot more common at higher altitudes. Make sure to use fog lights and even consider delaying your journey if it becomes too much.
