Six Nations Championship: How to Navigate Britain

If you’re like me and are looking for the perfect excuse to get out there and see some world-class sport; what piqued my interest was the Six Nations championship. If you’re a rugby fan yourself, you’ve no doubt heard of this and perhaps have been wanting to see it live – even travelling to the various stadiums. Though of course, travelling internationally and even domestically comes with its own host of issues that may put you off, though I assure you an event like this is well worth the travel.

We at Indigo can facilitate your travel, operating in all the relevant countries! This guide will specifically cater to just the British isles, however if you’re looking too travel in central Europe, we have the guide for you.

With car hire in France, car hire in Italy and even young drivers car hire, regardless of where you are travelling; Indigo wants you to enjoy yourself.

How to navigate The Six Nations Championship

Regardless whether you’re a resident or a traveller with a passion for the sport, navigating around the UK is nonetheless a seemingly overwhelming experience. But it doesn’t have to be. Domestic travel in the UK by car can reward you with some sights and experiences not found elsewhere.

In fact, considering some of changes that have been more and more apparent with flight travel, travel via car may be a cheaper alternative. With all the price bumps and otherwise inconvenience that comes with flying, there really hasn’t been a better time to travel domestically by car.

England

If you’re interested in the home games of England in Twickenham Stadium, London, with games against Wales and Ireland starting on the 10th of February and ending on the 9th of March respectively. There are of course the iconic landmarks, from Buckingham Palace to the Tower of London it is no wonder these structures have become cultural icons, and the best part is they’re only a short drive away. Though if it’s food you’re looking for and don’t have a reservation for many of the exclusive restaurants; London offers no shortage of diners and bakeries where you can indulge in any number of the local delicacies.

Wales

The next game to play in the UK takes place at the Principality Stadium of Cardiff. If you’re arriving to Cardiff via the airport our car hire near Cardiff can take you directly into the heart of the city and the stadium and shorten the otherwise length travel. Before the game however, you might be interested in getting a feel for the city first. If you’re travelling with family, you may be interest in the St Fagans National Museum of History, which will of course welcome children of all ages. With 3 home games being played between Scotland, France and Italy, there will be no shortage of time to enjoy the city and what it offers.

Scotland

There are only 2 Scottish home games that play within only 2 weeks of each other, a perfect time frame for a quick stay. These games will take place against France on the 10th of February, with the final being on the 24th of the same month. All These games will take place in the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh. If you’re looking to attend all the UK games, considering the close timing with other Six Nations Championship matches you may be flying in via the Edinburgh airport. Like other Capitals, Edinburgh is of course a well-developed and largely historical city. Though if you’re interested in a more engaging tour rather than a conventional old castle, the Harry Potter tour will take you around locations and sets themed around Harry Potter, perfect for families.

Ireland

Finally, with 3 games taking place between some of the other major players; being Italy, Wales, and Scotland there is no shortage of tension in the games that are to come. With them taking place through the 11th of February to the 16th of March at the Aviva Stadium which can be easily accessed with a car hire in Dublin Airport. Being in the heart of Ireland, there’s no better way to wind down than with a tour of the Guinness Storehouse, which is in my opinion the best way to get a taste for the culture (figuratively and literally). Though if you’re planning on visiting all of these stadiums, you’ll undoubtedly want to save with our no deposit car hire.

What you can expect from the Six Nations Championship

If you’re not used to the rules of the road or are unsure of how they vary, there is no need to worry as between the UK (England, Scotland, and Wales) the driving laws all follow the same procedure and laws. The only thing to keep note of is the possible environmental change, as some more rural areas can have unexpectedly steep terrain, may catch you off guard in the highlands.

Regarding what’ll you need for a rental:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Identification
  • Credit card

Even if you’re in Ireland, the driving laws are relatively similar. One main change that may catch some UK drivers off guard is the distance being in Kilometres rather than miles, a subtle difference but it’s important to know your speed.

What we can do
