All New Audi Q1

Audi AG have confirmed that there will be a new Audi SUV model due in 2016 called the Audi Q1, the German based company are hoping that it will follow its Q family relatives in their success with the Q5 model producing approximately 230,000 cars this year. The Q1 is being produced to round off the Q series at the bottom end with it being classed as a somewhat mini SUV. The early sketches on the Q1 already give it a unique feel from the rest of its similar looking Q family.

The “Baby Audi” it’s being labelled by some looks as if someone has stood on the Q5 a bit strange granted but a design you could possibly warm too. It looks more streamlined than its relatives but with larger feels and a 2 door version. The first sight of the crossover concept will be in in 2014 in Detroit where Audi are really hoping to impress.

Hybrid Horizon?
Do Audi have plans for the new Q1 to be available with a Hybrid version? One thing that was noticed by keen car fanatics was that the drawing of the Q1 featured an e-tron badge, there has been no reveal of what engine will be under the hood of the new car however the badge suggests the SUV could feature a hybrid engine.

New Design
The sketch displayed has shown that Audi will be aiming to revamp the typical design with smaller windows, 2 doors and a possible hybrid engine along with a higher ride height than the A3. All this is aimed toward the audience that the Range Rover Evoque is aiming for, another compact SUV that has proved extremely successful in previous years.

Since Audi have ventured into the world of SUVs they have proven successful with various different models having great sales since 2006, especially the Q family and the RS models. We will have to see about this new Q1 however, it looks like they are changing quite a few things!
