Hiring A Car In Denmark With Winter Tyres

about Denmark

In the south of Scandinavia, you will find Denmark, with only 5.6 million people living there it still manages to pull in millions of people every year. The capital of Denmark, Copenhagen, boasts royal palaces and a colourful harbour, not to mention Tivoli amusement park and The Little Mermaid sculpture. All that is just in the capital city, the rest of the country has loads more to offer including many castles.

With such a variety of activities in Denmark, the country is great to visit all year round. In the Winter you can even enjoy skiing at one of the resorts. However, if you plan to travel in the Winter, make sure you are aware of the laws that are in place. Luckily for you, we have gathered all the information and compressed it into one blog.

is It A Legal Requirement To Have Winter Tyres?

No, in Denmark there are no areas where you are require to have Winter tyres by law, even if you are visiting a ski resort. As well as this, you are not required to carry snow chains in Denmark, however if you would like to use snow chains, they are allowed between 1st November and 15th April. If you wish to add snow chains to your booking, it will cost you just over £20 for the duration of your rental.

can Winter Tyres Be Requested When Renting A Car In Denmark?

Yes, you can request Winter tyres when booking for just over £45 for a week, this is a good idea if you want to be as safe as possible or if you plan on travelling to another country.

what Else Do I Need To Consider?

There are a few ski resorts scattered across the country and there is a chance you may be taking your own skis. If this is you, you will need somewhere to store your skis when you are travelling. Unfortunately, we do not have ski racks available for hire at this location. Instead, we suggest that you hire a larger vehicle so you can accommodate your skis.

If you are making use of our cross border car hire, it is important you research the laws of any country you will be visiting. If it is a legal requirement to have winter tyres, snow chains or anything else in that country, it is your responsibility to arrange this. You can arrange this when you are booking your car, failure to do so could result in complications with the local law enforcement and your insurance may be void.

As always, we suggest that you call us if you are looking to book a car, especially if you have exact requirements. Our expert team can help with any of your questions or concerns to ensure you know everything you need to and have a stress-free car hire. Contact our team today!

Having worked in the car rental industry for over 15 years, he really knows his stuff. Rob heads up our marketing department and as a keen traveller, always has a new location to talk about. Particularly if there is a golf course nearby.
