5 Benefits Of Hiring An MPV

When it comes to hiring a car, most customers tend to overlook the type of vehicle they are going to be driving and often make their decision based on the brand of the rental vehicle.

This is understandable, even I prefer commuting in a large German saloon car and probably wouldn’t consider buying a low cost people carrier from the far east, but when it comes to hiring a car I try and get the most practical vehicle possible.

You may remember last year I took the family camping to Wales, squeezing 3 children with child-seats in the back of said large German saloon was almost impossible but a problem with my car forced my hand and I had to hire a car.

We ended up with a Citroen C4 Picasso, not a huge car but I was very surprised with the amount of space inside, space is a luxury in many modern cars and is number 1 on my list of 5 Benefits Of Hiring An MPV.

1. Space

Having enough room for the 2.4 children, the dog, cat, hamster and the kitchen sink is almost impossible these days unless you want to leave all of your luggage at home. The space available in some of the larger people carriers or 7 seat MPV’s is impressive and will make some of the larger estate vehicles cower in the corner.

2. Comfort

The extra space also adds to the comfort of all passengers. That couple of inches extra leg room doesn’t seems like much but you will be thankful for it after a 6 hour trip from Yorkshire to Plymouth. A little extra room in the front so you can both rest your elbows can also avoid in car arguments, in my experience…

3. Peace & Quiet

Stopping arguments in the front is nothing compared to what can happen in the back if everyone is happy. A lot of modern MPV’s have enough toys in the back to keep Mr Magorium happy. Tri-zone climate control, tv screens, individual tables and even power points for the all important phone/tablet/console chargers.

4. Cost

Hiring a 7, 8 or 9 seat vehicle could negate the need to take 2 or even 3 cars on the same trip which could save on fuel, toll roads, congestion charges, ferry crossings ect which can all add up.

5. Usability & Visibility

Being a little higher up on the road can really improve visibility which is a great safety feature but being higher up is also great for loading and unloading the luggage and even the children into the car.

Having worked in the car rental industry for over 15 years, he really knows his stuff. Rob heads up our marketing department and as a keen traveller, always has a new location to talk about. Particularly if there is a golf course nearby.
