                About Berlin Tegel Airport

Otto Lilienthal or more commonly referred to as Berlin Tegel airport is the fourth busiest airport in Germany. Located just 5 miles northwest of the city centre of Berlin the airport serves about 18 million passengers a year making it the busiest airport in Berlin by far. The airport in coming years is however set to be replaced by Berlin Bradenburg Airport which was originally scheduled to open in 2011 but has been delayed to an unknown date. The airport has flights all over the world with the busiest international destinations being Zurich, Heathrow and Vienna Airport, the busiest domestic routes include Frankfurt, Munich and Dusseldorf.

                Why Choose Indigo Car Hire?

You shouldn’t just choose us at Berlin Tegel Airport you should choose us everywhere! There are several companies at Berlin including the large Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Sixt, Thrifty and also some smaller rental companies but Indigo should be your first choice. We are a broker so we get the best out of these companies for you, we work with them worldwide and have arranged deals in order to save you money. We have managed to negotiate offers that you can get through us if you book at Berlin Tegel airport but not if you went directly to the suppliers. The best of these offers include…

                Debit Card Car Hire

Want to hire a car without using a credit card? It can be a harder task than it sounds, this is due to most car hire companies only accepting the use of credit cards and not just only in Berlin this is a worldwide issue. Don’t worry however, we have organised an offer for you which allows people with a debit card to hire a car given that it meets our restrictions that are in place..

                Young Driver Car Hire

If you are under 25 you may struggle to get your hands on a hired car, this is due to the terms and conditions of the major rental companies. We have however managed to arrange a deal with them which allows us to hire a car if you are between the ages of 21-25 given that you have held your licence for a year prior to hiring.

                Free Additional Driver

Travelling for a long period of time? We have managed to arrange a deal which means that if you have someone in the car with you and they are eligible to hire the vehicle as well you can add them to the rental as a driver completely free of charge.

Do I need to pass a credit check if using my debit card to hire?

If renting a car in the UK and you are a UK resident most of the large multinational suppliers will carry out an electronic address check to ensure you have strong enough links to the address provided. However most of the suppliers with the exception of 1 or 2, still carry out the same checks so not unique to when you need to hire via a debit card. Key indicator are if you are named on the Electoral Register and named on the council tax bill.

When renting a car overseas as an inbound client our suppliers do not carry out any checks.

Do I need to leave a deposit if hiring with a debit card?

Most suppliers do require a security deposit when renting a car, in the UK we have a range of options. The best value suppliers would request a £200.00 – £300.00 deposit. However we do have selected locations where our supplier does not require any deposit, so a full zero deposit.

In Europe we have options where you can just leave a fuel deposit of 110 EUR, and there is no mandatory requirement to take the Super Cover as this can be the case with some of the smaller budget suppliers.
