Careless Driving Convictions

Careless Driving Convictions

Careless driving is a more serious offence than you may think both in terms of the law and car hire. Just like drink driving convictions, careless driving convictions range from CD10 to CD90 in units of 10. The higher the conviction the worse the offence, CD90 is the worst one possible, all the convictions however range between 3 – 9 points each but you can also serve a ban for a careless driving offence which will affect your ability to hire a car majorly.

A breakdown of the convictions codes are:

CD10 – Driving without due care and attention
CD20 – Driving without reasonable consideration for others
CD30 – Driving without due care and attention or without reasonable consideration for other road users
CD40 – Causing death through careless driving when unfit through drink
CD50 – Causing death by careless driving when unfit through drugs
CD60 – Causing death by careless driving with alcohol level above the limit
CD70 – Causing death by careless driving then failing to supply a specimen for analysis
CD80 – Causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving
CD90 – Causing death by driving whilst unlicensed, disqualified or uninsured.

A lot of which can result in a ban from driving.

Can You Hire A Car With A CD Conviction?
Yes you can unless you have served a ban, if you where banned then it needs to be 5 years from either when you got your licence back or when you where convicted. Generally the rule with careless driving convictions it is 5 years from the date of conviction.

There is however occasions where they are just seen as just points, we can hire to you given that you have 9 points or under in certain locations, most locations require that you have less than 6 points in total.
