Speaking of unique car hire Geneva airport is a fairly unique subject, this is down to the fact that the airport is actually in both France and Switzerland and serves them both. The airport handled a huge 13,899,422 passengers in the last year. If you do decide upon renting on the French side and then coming to the Switzerland side you must be aware of some of the laws that are different between each of the countries.

The city of Geneva is the closest city from the airport which is 2.5 miles away, if you want to get there easy and have the possibility of travelling to other cities nearby then the best choice is most likely to hire a car, but we must stress again beware of the changes in laws between the countries and if you are unsure then always check with our reservations agents by phoning us.

Debit card car hire Geneva Airport

To make hiring easier and accessible to the people that need it we can now offer car rental with a debit card at Geneva Airport. Most rental companies insist on hirer’s providing a major credit card on collection of the vehicle. However we’ve managed to secure a national supplier in Switzerland that will allow our customers to certain debit cards as long as they meet set requirements.

Young driver car hire Geneva Airport

We can now announce that we can offer young driver car hire from the very young age of 21. Typically car hire companies only accept those who are 25 and over but we have managed to negotiate a deal, however you must pay an additional daily fee and also have two years driving experience if you are between the ages of 21-25.

Sometimes however car rental with no deposit is unavailable due to low availability during peak season therefore we also arranged a backup offer of low deposit car hire which is just the deposit on the full tank of fuel.

Do I need to pass a credit check if using my debit card to hire?

If renting a car in the UK and you are a UK resident most of the large multinational suppliers will carry out an electronic address check to ensure you have strong enough links to the address provided. However most of the suppliers with the exception of 1 or 2, still carry out the same checks so not unique to when you need to hire via a debit card. Key indicator are if you are named on the Electoral Register and named on the council tax bill.

When renting a car overseas as an inbound client our suppliers do not carry out any checks.

Do I need to leave a deposit if hiring with a debit card?

Most suppliers do require a security deposit when renting a car, in the UK we have a range of options. The best value suppliers would request a £200.00 – £300.00 deposit. However we do have selected locations where our supplier does not require any deposit, so a full zero deposit.

In Europe we have options where you can just leave a fuel deposit of 110 EUR, and there is no mandatory requirement to take the Super Cover as this can be the case with some of the smaller budget suppliers.
