Collection Procedure

When in the airport Thrifty car hire are situated in the car rentals hall of Glasgow airport, it’s not very hard to find there is a lot of signs that direct you towards the location and it shouldn’t be an issue as it’s in the main and only terminal quite close to the Bureau de change.

Vehicles Availability

There is a wide range of vehicles across the Thrifty fleet at Glasgow airport. They have several cars with anything ranging from VW Polo to Ford Transits; they also have quite a few luxury cars in their range however they usually are quite expensive.

Card Types Accepted

Thrifty accepts many major credit cards and quite a few of the major debit cards. Unlike many companies Thrifty don’t reject cards such as Maestro or Switch whereas most other car companies don’t accept these payment types. Due to this Thrifty accept most if not all card types which are very unusual for car hire companies.

Deposit

The normal deposit for an ordinary car in the Thrifty range is £150 which is set if you pay with a debit card so that they can freeze it in case something goes wrong with the hire car (if it’s your fault) or you don’t pay, it’s only a precautionary measure.
Thrifty have a luxury car range and when renting a luxury car it’s a slightly higher deposit due to the nature of the rental, the deposit for luxury vehicles is £1000 which can be cut on half but that’s down to which card you are using.

Excess

With Thrifty the excess changes depending upon the vehicle you rent, the usual excess is about £500 which is for their standard vehicles this can however rises up to £1500 on their luxury vehicles and 4×4. The excess for larger vehicles is around £750.

Young Driver Car Hire

The age Thrifty guidelines is 21 which comes with an additional young driver surcharge of £20 per day, as well as a surcharge Thrifty if your 21 only rent you certain vehicles such as small ones like the Ford Ka or similar. As well as having a young driver policy they have an old driver one too where if you are over the age of 69 then you must also pay an additional fee. One way car hire

Glasgow airports Thrifty branch offer one way car hire for an additional fee usually of about £35 – £45. The way one way car hire works is pretty self-explanatory, you pick your car up at one location and drop it off at another location where there is a Thrifty branch within the UK.
