DRIVING LICENCE COUNTERPART UPDATES

Postby BogdanO » 15 Jul 2015, 10:57

On 8th of June DVLA abolished the driving licence paper counterpart.
All the information is not stored electronically and can be freely accessed here: https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence

Attention Drivers with a UK driving licence who want to hire a car in the UK must share their info with car rental companies for check purposes . The procedure is very simple it is perfectly described on the link above.
- you will need to generate a "check code" which will enable the car rental companies to see your driving info.

Drivers with UK driving licence who want to hire a car abroad don't need to follow this procedure!!! The counterpart was specific only to UK, so there is no need to share your info abroad in spite of what many newspapers are saying...

more updates will come

Fresh update from DVLA

The "check code" availability will be 21 days from 10th of July.
before the code was valid only for 72 hours...and caused a lot of delays and problems to the motorists :o
