This week, the question comes from Mr. R. Harrison from UK
Q: Can you still hire a vehicle with a DR 10 conviction?

A: First we need to clarify a bit more about this type of conviction. A DR 10 refers to: "Driving or attempting to drive with alcohol level above limit" and It is framed into the Drink Or Drug Driving Offences.
If you want to rent a car, you will be able to do it ONLY if 5 years passed since you were convicted. Also we need to remind you that you may also have trouble travelling to countries like the USA.

Interesting subject, and you are quite correct hiring in the UK with that type of conviction is a difficult thing, the rules are as per the below.

5 years since your date of conviction or if you were banned from driving as a result of receiving the DR10 then it is 5 years from, the date that you received your license back. There are slight variations to this rule depending on location and also rental supplier, but for sure anyone whom has had a DR10 in the past is encouraged to make contact with us in order for us to check the conditions surrounding renting a car.

The next part is fairly important as this is a unique service that we offer, when renting vehicles overseas there are no restrictions when hiring a car with a DR10 on your license, there is no need to wait 5 years since the date of conviction or the date that you received your license back. We have helped and rented to many people in the past who have found themselves stuck due to having this 'conviction'

I suppose in summary 'If you have a DR conviction and want to hire a car, speak to us at Indigo Car Hire and we will provide the best value options'
