CROSS BORDER TRAVEL FOR YOUNG DRIVERS

Postby Rob Gillespie » 07 May 2014, 03:34

Just had another enquiry through, can anyone shed any light on this?

Hi, I am a student, aged 22. I am studying in Germany now. Is it possible for you guys to look for a car for 5 people, travelling from Munich to Slovenia and Croatia… Since the driver don’t have a credit card, can we pay the security deposit using debit card instead?

Rob,

Yep no worries this can be done, there is a minimum age to be able to do this and the minimum age is depending on the county of collection, for example in this case the driver wants to collect in Germany, Germany has a minimum drivers age of 19, so essentially you can take the vehicle cross border from the age of 19 (although please note some supplier do change there terms from time to time and can restrict the countries the vehicle can be taken into) as with all tricky things of this nature people must get in touch in order to check the details.

Essentially the answer is yes cross border travel in Europe is permitted for young drivers :-)

Thanks,

Matt.
