Hiring a car under the age of 25 in South Africa can be a real struggle, the reason if you are under 25 you struggle to get a hired vehicle is all down the rental suppliers insurance policies. Younger drivers are always more expensive to insure, to counter this most rental companies decided that they would allow you to hire under 25 with some daring to go to the likes of age 21 but this came at a cost, young driver surcharge was an expensive fee that all major rental companies charged to their younger customers, this ranged anywhere from £10-£39/p day on top of the cost of the rental.
As you may or may not know Indigo have always prided themselves on arranged deals for our customers so that firstly car hire is more available to a wider audience of people and secondly it’s affordable. South Africa is no exception, we didn’t want to let our customers travelling to South Africa down so looked to arrange deals in regards to young drivers to go along with our no deposit and debit card offers already available in South Africa.
We have come up with two separate unique deals for our young drivers that you can take advantage of….
Deal #1
Our young driver car hire age we have managed to do the impossible and have managed to get lower than the under 21 threshold. We can now arrange car hire for people who are 18 years of age and have held their licence for a year prior to hiring with us.
Deal #2
For 23 and 24 year olds we have managed to arrange a deal which means you no longer have any young driver surcharge at all! This is also available if you have held your licence for a year prior to hiring.
These two breakthroughs are great for us as it means that younger customers can get their hands on rental cars. It also means that those who are 23 or over have a massive saving, on top of which we will try and keep the young driver surcharge for those customers between 18-22 at an absolute minimum by trying to arrange deals on your behalf upon when you call us.
