                What Is Isofix

An Isofix is an international standard for attachment points for child safety seats in passenger cars. The system also goes by other names including Latch, Luas and Canfix and it’s also been referred to as universal child safety seat system Ucsss. The isofix is a metal bar which is found embedded in the seat, it has two latches on the bar which attach to child seats for an increased safety on the previous method of securing child seats with just a seatbelt.

It’s a specific anchoring system for child seats which from 2006 all new cars are equipped with. It also was however fitted to a large amount of vehicles prior to 2006.

                What The Isofix Offers

The risk of installing the car seat to the isofix system is extremely small whereas if you were to use a regular seatbelt you are much more likely to install it incorrectly. It also offers the highest amount of safety for the child and ease of use for the parents.
On top of this it gives a permanent connection between the car seat and the car chassis meaning the force of impact is more controlled and less force is applied upon the child.

                • It is designed as an anti-tipping device which increases stability and safety.
                • Very easy to install a car seat much more simple than securing one with a seatbelt.
                • It’s also secure when driving without a child whereas a seatbelt usually isn’t.

                Do Hired Cars Have Isofix?

All hired cars have Isofix because they were made after 2006 and are not modified from when they were manufactured. They all come equipped with an Isofix as standard so there is no need to worry.

To go hand in hand with this we also offer car seats as an additional extras which are usually £10/p day however sometimes it can be worth it to buy a car seat as it will sometimes work out cheaper, or even to bring your own which you are allowed to do.

Do I need to pass a credit check if using my debit card to hire?

If renting a car in the UK and you are a UK resident most of the large multinational suppliers will carry out an electronic address check to ensure you have strong enough links to the address provided. However most of the suppliers with the exception of 1 or 2, still carry out the same checks so not unique to when you need to hire via a debit card. Key indicator are if you are named on the Electoral Register and named on the council tax bill.

When renting a car overseas as an inbound client our suppliers do not carry out any checks.

Do I need to leave a deposit if hiring with a debit card?

Most suppliers do require a security deposit when renting a car, in the UK we have a range of options. The best value suppliers would request a £200.00 – £300.00 deposit. However we do have selected locations where our supplier does not require any deposit, so a full zero deposit.

In Europe we have options where you can just leave a fuel deposit of 110 EUR, and there is no mandatory requirement to take the Super Cover as this can be the case with some of the smaller budget suppliers.
