Cross Border Car Hire GermanyCross Border Car Hire Germany

Hiring a car with the intention of taking it abroad can be really tricky and especially when it’s between European countries. Something like this with all the different terms and conditions for each company means that you are going to need the experts to find you the best deal and make sure that you meet all the requirements because after all nobody wants to be stuck at the airport unable to get a vehicle, and that’s where Indigo Car Hire can help!

There are two types of cross border car hire, one is crossing the border and bringing the car back to the location that you hired it from which often comes with an additional charge usually for the insurance cover. The second method is one way, meaning you can pick the car up at an airport in Germany and drop it off at another airport in another country, the cost of this involved a one way fee but we will try and keep it to an absolute minimum.

                Travel Restrictions

Normally, you can collect a vehicle in Germany and drive through Austria, Uk, Hungary, Slovakia, Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, France, Spain, Portugal, Andorra, Monaco, Luxembourg, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Ireland, Czech Republic, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Poland without a problem, given that you make us aware of your requirements when booking. This enable us to choose a supplier who can offer what you require.

Countries that are not stated above may still be able to be arrange, however more difficult, please speak to our team regarding your car hire needs today.

                Cross Border Rental Charges

For the most part, suppliers will charge a fee for cross border car hire, this be little as just €10 for the additional insurance and paperwork. However this can become more expensive depending on which countries you wish to visit.

Other Car Hire Offers in Germany

On our cross border car hires we have managed to arrange several deals to make it easier for our customers to hire a car at a better and affordable price. Some of our best offers we have organised so far include…

                Young Driver Car Hire
If you are under 25 you will struggle to find a vehicle you can hire especially as cross border car hire can sometimes involve a 30 year old restriction. We have however managed to arrange a deal that means young drivers can hire from the age of 19 given that they have held their licence for a year prior to doing so.

                Debit Card Car Hire
This is only available from selected airports in Germany such as the Berlin airports, Munich airport, Hannover airport and a handful of others. Car hire without a credit card can be a real struggle to find but not when you book with us, our deal means that you can use a debit card given that it meets our three main restrictions that the supplier has put in place.

                Free Additional Driver
If you are crossing borders when you are hiring chances are that you are going to be driving for long periods of time, so why not take a break? it doesn’t have to cost loads to add an additional driver to the rental, we have managed to arrange an offer that means we can add a second driver completely free of cost given that they meet car hire requirements of course.

Super service i had no problem at all when i booked a car through them and i would highly recommend

Do I need to pass a credit check if using my debit card to hire?

If renting a car in the UK and you are a UK resident most of the large multinational suppliers will carry out an electronic address check to ensure you have strong enough links to the address provided. However most of the suppliers with the exception of 1 or 2, still carry out the same checks so not unique to when you need to hire via a debit card. Key indicator are if you are named on the Electoral Register and named on the council tax bill.

When renting a car overseas as an inbound client our suppliers do not carry out any checks.

Do I need to leave a deposit if hiring with a debit card?

Most suppliers do require a security deposit when renting a car, in the UK we have a range of options. The best value suppliers would request a £200.00 – £300.00 deposit. However we do have selected locations where our supplier does not require any deposit, so a full zero deposit.

In Europe we have options where you can just leave a fuel deposit of 110 EUR, and there is no mandatory requirement to take the Super Cover as this can be the case with some of the smaller budget suppliers.
