Choosing The Right Car Hire Company

When you need to hire a car, it is difficult to know which car hire company to use. You can pick up the phone and call one of the household names like Hertz, Avis or Europcar or you can visit a comparison site which will list everything in price order for you, but wont inform you of all the in’s and out’s.

If you want someone with experience of all of the above then speaking to a broker is the best option. Car hire brokers like us @ Indigo Car Hire deal with most if not all of the main car hire suppliers around the world. Meaning we can help you get the best deal for the type of rental you are looking for.

why go to a broker and not direct to the car hire company?

  • We will usually get a better rate for the rental because they pass numerous bookings to the suppliers and are given preferential rates.
  • We can provide you with rental costs and prices for additional extras for many suppliers to let you make an educated decision on which supplier to use. Not only can this save you money but also will save you a lot of time and hassle.
  • We can advise you about all of terms surrounding the rental that the car hire company makes difficult to find, so as not to put you off using them.
  • You will have 1 point of contact throughout the booking process.

Indigo are very careful about which suppliers they use for certain hire’s, if you have specific requirements for your rental, they will know exactly which suppliers to approach for a quote because they have asked the questions you need answering many times before. No matter how specific or rare your requirement may be, chances are we have come across it before.

Case Studies:

A customer is 23 years old and needs to hire a car from Exeter for the weekend:
We know of 6 suppliers in Exeter that will allow a 23 year old to drive, 5 of them add a surcharge of between £12 and £25 per day for the additional insurance. 1 of them does not charge extra.

A customer is 27 years old but doesn’t have a credit card, he needs a car for 2 weeks from Newcastle:
We deal with 3 suppliers in the UK (6 In Europe) that will accept a debit card as form of payment, 2 of whom have a location in Newcastle.

A 30 year old customer wants to hire a car in Dorset for 3 weeks, but wants to be able to drive the vehicle across Europe including Poland:
We have 5 suppliers that will allow vehicles to be taken from the UK and driven into Europe but only 1 of them will allow a vehicle to be driven into Poland for insurance reasons.

So what if you are a 23 year old without a credit card and wish to take a vehicle to Poland??? How many phone calls do you think it would take to find the supplier who will allow this? 5? 10? 20?…. Just 1 providing you are calling Indigo Car Hire.

Having worked in the car rental industry for over 15 years, he really knows his stuff. Rob heads up our marketing department and as a keen traveller, always has a new location to talk about. Particularly if there is a golf course nearby.
