Alamos Policy On Child Seats

Child safety seats have always been a bit of a grey area in the car hire industry with different terms/conditions and costs so we thought that we would help out by giving the policies that one of our major suppliers has in regards to child seats, this supplier is Alamo. Alamo have different policies on their child safety seats for different countries, here is a bit of a breakdown of some of the policies Alamo have….

Argentina:
-You can get Infant and Child/Toddler seats as per request. The infants seats accommodate the weight of 2-10 kilos which is 2-22 lbs, child and toddler seats are slightly more at 10-15 kilos which is 22-33 lbs.

Australia:
-In Australia there are toddler seats available which are suitable for children between the ages of 9 months – 4 years or the weight restrictions of 6-13 Kgs. These seats are however unsuitable for infants who are unable to sit upright independently, these seats do not fit in IVAR group vehicles which are intermediate vehicles such as the Peugeot 5008 or similar.

Costa Rica:
-Both infant and child seats are available, the infant seats accommodate weights of up to 5 kilos which is 11lbs and the child/toddler seat can hold 6-28 kilos equivalent to 11-24 lbs.

Guatemala:
– Again there are both infant and child/toddler seats available which will accommodate the same weights as above in Costa Rica.

El Salvador:
-There are both child and toddler seats available which accommodate weights of 9-18 kilos equivalent to 20-40 lbs.

France:
-In France it is slightly different to the other countries as they only supply booster seats suitable for children aged 3-10 over 15 kilos.

United Kingdom:
-There is one type of child seat available from Alamo UK and that’s the Britax Freeway Child Seat, this seat is suitable for those from 9 months up until 4 years of age and it’s a forward facing seat that meets the UK standards. You do however (with Alamo) have to put down a deposit of £50 on the seat which gets refunded when you return it, these are on request and you can’t get guaranteed availability unless you book them. Customers also have to fit the seats themselves.
