Formerly known as Seawell Airport, Grantley Adams International Airport is based in Christ Church on the island of Barbados.

Although it is only the 9th largest airport in the Caribbean it offers international flights to North America, South America, Canada and Europe.

A large amount of the passengers passing through Grantley Adams are either Embarking or returning from a cruise from thew port of Bridgetown.

Debit Card Car Hire

We have two suppliers that will allow our customers to hire a car using a debit card at Grantley Adams Airport.

With the first one you must take out their additional insurance cover, the charge varies depending on the vehicle that you hire but is quite comparable to other suppliers. A big benefit of doing this is not only does it reduce your excess down to $150 but it also means there is no deposit to leave when you collect the vehicle.

The second does not require you to take out additional insurance although that is an option, the only requirement here is that you leave a deposit for the full excess. The excess is $1750 Usd which is a bit steep for basic cars but you will get this back when the vehicle is returned. And ultimately will cost you less in the long run.

Young Driver Car Hire

If you are under the age of 25 then you may have already found out how hard it is to hire a car due to restrictions for the companies that insure the car hire fleets. We have managed to arrange a deal that means young drivers from the age of 21 can hire given that they have held their licence for a year prior to doing so.

Low Deposit Car Hire

When you are hiring a car it’s typically also the time you are spending a lot of money on other things for example your holiday. Do I need to pass a credit check if using my debit card to hire?

If renting a car in the UK and you are a UK resident most of the large multinational suppliers will carry out an electronic address check to ensure you have strong enough links to the address provided. However most of the suppliers with the exception of 1 or 2, still carry out the same checks so not unique to when you need to hire via a debit card. Key indicator are if you are named on the Electoral Register and named on the council tax bill.

When renting a car overseas as an inbound client our suppliers do not carry out any checks.

Do I need to leave a deposit if hiring with a debit card?

Most suppliers do require a security deposit when renting a car, in the UK we have a range of options. The best value suppliers would request a £200.00 – £300.00 deposit. However we do have selected locations where our supplier does not require any deposit, so a full zero deposit.

In Europe we have options where you can just leave a fuel deposit of 110 EUR, and there is no mandatory requirement to take the Super Cover as this can be the case with some of the smaller budget suppliers.
